This Weekend

Hello to all -

I don't own a car anymore, so this weekend I'm treating myself to a rental car. From noon Friday to noon Monday, I will be roaming about here and there doing all sorts of wonderful things. Of course, "wonderful" depends on your prospective. I will go to Denny's and order off the senior menu. I will get my hair cut. I will go to the Dollar Store, and I will visit the Lake where I grew up.

Lake George is so beautiful, and I certainly miss being able to get in the car and just drive up there to rid myself of the home sickness I so often feel when away for any length of time. If I am lucky, I will be able to see my nephew and his girl friend, who work right there on the lake.

I have my list for the Dollar store, and Jo Ann's all ready to go, and am trying to figure out which other places to eat as I toodle down the road. Maybe McDonald's. "What???", you say. Well, I love a Big Mac's occasionally, and when you don't have a car...... there are no Big Mac's.

So, next Monday (or Tuesday if I'm really tired) I will be posting on my little excursions. Meantime, ............I'm off to see the wizard.......................

Many Blessings everyone

ooooops ...Well, I forgot to add the picture below. So, here it is... th e necklace

What to do with leftover yarn

I had this yarn left from making a little size 1 baby dress. What to do??

This is what happened.

I just started crocheting, with no particular pattern in mind. Personally, I think it came out real well.

The dark brown ribbon seems to make the piece complete. I was disappointed that the store did not have grograin ribbon for this, and reluctantly bought satin. It couldn't be more perfect!! I was lucky that what I wanted was not available.

I could just see this with a prom dress, or a pair of jeans and T-shirt. It would be versatile and go with anything.

Granny Square Baby Blanket

Here it is, as promised, the granny square baby blanket.

I need to do a medical treatment four times a day, and it takes 20 minutes each time. I have the proper equipment that leaves my hands free, and I am able to do special small creations. for a couple of weeks all I did was make little granny squares out of left over yarn. This is the result. I think it is adorable, and so old-fashioned looking.

The yarn is soft. ---- Not light soft, but squishy soft. I can just see a little one holding it close, and squeezing it with his/her hand.

Perfect for dreaming.....................
And now available in my Etsy store.

My Newest Creation

I saw this in a pattern book and just had to do one. I thought it would be a great item to put in my etsy store, hopwever, this first one will stay in my own kitchen, because I just love it. It is supposed to be done with Peaches & Cream, but since I only had Sugar & Cream on hand I used that.

It came out so nice that I can't part with it. You will, however, see it in my store as soon as I do another. It was easy as pie, with my needles clicking away smoothly, and took no time at all.

Since it is Sunday, I thought I would share something I did last week in my apartment. It is vinyl wall art. It looks like I painted it on the wall, however, it is a sort-of sticker. I purchased it from http://householdwords.etsy.com/ and it comes with sticky paper attached to it. You just position it on the wall (or wherever you like - frig, shower stall, window, etc.), and peel the sticky paper off and presto a beautiful mural. They come in all sorts of different types.... flowers, branches, birds, sports, animals, etc.

I really really love mine. Every morning I have this little birdie to greet me in the kitchen. Can't help but smile. They aren't expensive, and a truly neat way to dress up a blank space.

Now, I'm thinking about getting the squirrel to keep my birdie company. I would put the squirrel over the sink.

This hat is being modeled by my grand daughter Michelle - with her beautiful red hair. The hat has been in my store for quite a while, and I'm surprised that no one has prchased it. I'm wondering if the fact that I put it on a live model turns people off. Would you buy something that had been on a live model?
Whatever the reason, I think it looks absolutely beautiful on her, and would wonderful on most anyone.
I used black & white, and a little silver fun fur to make this and it was as much fun to make as it looks.
The hat is in my store .. http://pepper2.etsy.com .. and can be found most easily by looking in the "hat" section.
I am just finishing up a granny square baby blanket that came out really nice. Will post tomorrow.

Grand Daughters

My grand daughter Michelle (18 yrs old) just stopped by, and the little "hippie" phone holder I posted yesterday ....gone. She really loved it. Now, I ask you, what can a Grandma say? She has beautiful red hair, so the green will look wonderful on her. Seems that the "hippie" look is very "in" with the young ones.

She also took the lariat - picture above... before I even have had a chance to post it. It looked really good on her, and again I couldn't say no. Then, to add insult to injury she loved my new necklace so much I gave it to her.
She is a delightful person, who has had a really hard time this past year. She has come out of it a stronger person in some ways, and in other ways it has hurt her terribly. How difficult it must be to be a young person today, with all the problems in the world at their finger tips on the web and TV. Perhaps all these electronic gadgets aren't that great. It is so hard to keep a child a child. They grow up with problems and worries that, as a child, I wouldn't even have thought of yet.

I asked my Grand daughter if she would like or use a cell phone/ipod holder. She said she would if it was "Hippie" style. So here is what I made. She hasn't seen it yet, so don't know if I got it right. I was in my twenties during the "Hippie" era, but I was busy being the consumate homemaker with 2 children. Hopefully she will like it. If she does it is hers.... if not... it will go in my "peppers2" shop.

My Friend Louanne is going to be a Great Grandmother for the first time. I'm making her a "Wardrobe of Hats" for the baby-to-be (girl). I have 2 made and this will be the third when finished. This pattern is one of my favorites. It is lacey and pretty and girly -girl. Right now it is half done, and when it is done, I will post all three together for you to see.

Being a great grandmother means you don't have to do anything except cuddle and love the little one. They seem to know that you are special and they automatically love and cuddle back. It's delightful!!

PETAL BIB
This bib was just fun to make. It is 100% cotton, and comes in the primary colors.... red, orange, green, yellow, blue, and brown. It looks adorable when worn, and is the perfect little "accessory" for a little one who is drooling from teething. It is totally washable -- an easy-care item.
Right now, I have the brown and orange listed in my knitwear shop on Etsy.

This is blocking puzzle pieces. They fit together like a puzzle, and are perfect for blocking any size or shape of knitting or crocheting. There are 9 pieces to each set. You just add a piece of the puzzle where needed (such as sleeves for a sweater).
I used these to block the little white sundress, and it worked out perfect. I blocked the sweater on the puzzle pieces on the kitchen counter, then moved the whole thing, intact, to the floor in the bedroom. I just love them, and wonder how I got along without them all this time.
They are available for sale at knitpicks.com

I want to get this on before I mail it out. It is the same as the little greendress... but white and this is a size 4.

It came out so adorable... wanted everyone to see it.

So, here is my first picture from my shop - http://pepper2.etsy.com/. I actually have 2 shops, with"pepper2" being the one with all knitwear for the family. I handknit and crochet everything you see there.

And here is an example
A sweet little sundres, size 1 for a little girl. Makes me wish I had a little girl to wear it!! It is 100% cotton, and totally washable.
Hopefully I will be posting here on a regular basis, so everyone can see my pretty things.
I will be posting from my 2nd store also. It has just things that are fun to make.
